PASTORAL CARE

The Pastoral Care Ministry of Grace In the Desert was begun to serve those who are ill or shut-in by making hospital or home visits when notified of the needs of our communicants. Communion will be given when desired. Teams of two (when possible) will deliver communion after being commissioned to do so following the last service on any given Sunday.

When the church office is notified that a parishioner is ill, the name of the parishioner is put on the Church office memo board and the priest-in-charge, Fr. Dale Augustin is notified. The church secretary or Fr. Dale notifies the pastoral minister, who communicates the information to other ministers.

Requests for prayers are submitted to Rev. Barbara Lewis at babalew@netzero.net. She forwards those requests to the “Prayer Partners” and Pastoral Ministry members.

There are approximately twenty persons shown on the email list/serv for this ministry of Grace in Desert. They are asked to pray for those in need. Some of these same persons volunteer to perform the visits:

Rev. Mary Bredlau visits those in Centennial and Mountain View Hospitals
Rick Smallwood visits wherever necessary
Margo Smith visits those in her area
Marjorie Turner visits wherever necessary
Patricia Holbrook-Seay visits wherever necessary

Our greatest challenge is to obtain more volunteers, which can be organized into teams of two. We also need updates on the progress of those for whom we are praying. All of us should be aware of those who need our concerns.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN SOMEONE IN CHURCH FOR A WHILE, PLEASE CONVEY THAT INFORMATION TO EITHER THE OFFICE OF THE CHURCH AND/OR REV. LEWIS.
